Starting to wean can be a bewildering experience. It takes a little time for them to learn to take food from a spoon and then figure out how to move it from the front of the tongue to the back of the mouth. I always recommend to start weaning from 5 ½ months. This will give your little one time to get used to the idea of food before they are introduced to a wider variety from 6 months onward.
Portioning is an important element of healthy eating, and is often overlooked or misguided. In this week's #weaningwednesday, I lay out all the facts about portioning and how to ensure that you are creating healthy habits for you and your family.
Through my weaning classes I have learned that the most stressful subject facing a first time mum when starting to feed her baby solid foods is how much to feed. If you are planning on starting to wean your baby onto solids before 6 months, it is so important not to decrease the milk intake. Our Weaning Pots are perfect when starting to wean your baby, moving towards 3 meals a day by 6 months of age.
It is always great to hear stories of the different ways mums use their Mummy Cooks Portion Pots and Weaning Pots. They can range to anything from carrying creams while on holidays, storing loom bands to portion sizes when on a diet. Our storage pots range comes in 10 different sizes so as well as helping Mums figure out portion sizes for their baby, they are also useful when portioning food for yourself and your children.
