Asparagus and Apple Purée


This Asparagus and Apple Puree is the perfect baby food for your little one. Babies are born with a sweet tooth so by combining sweet with savoury your baby is more likely to accept new tastes such as asparagus.

Cook time: 10-15 minutes
Makes: 3 portions

1 Apple
Handful of asparagus


  1. Wash, peel and chop the apple and asparagus.
  2. Place the apple and asparagus in a steamer and cook for 10-15 minutes, until tender and cooked through.
  3. Purée or mash, adding some boiled water if it is not runny enough.
  4. Store in your weaning pots, freeze and use within one month.

Weaning and Storage
4-6 months – Blended to Runny Puree
6-7 months - Smooth and slightly thicker puree, no lumps
7-8 months - Thicker puree with increased texture
8-9 months - Minced and mashed with soft lumps.
9-12 months – Minced and finely chopped.
