Homemade Chicken Soup
Heartwarming and full of flavour, this easy Homemade Chicken Soup recipe is perfect all year round. This simple recipe is packed with vegetables including celery, carrots and onions for a tasty nutritious boost. A hearty bowl of this chicken soup is the perfect pick-me-up when your baby or older child is sick with a cough or cold.

Cook time: 45 minutes
Makes: 4 Adult portions
Ingredients
2 chicken breasts
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 small onions, diced
1 litre low salt chicken stock
½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
1tsp fresh or dried parsley
1tsp fresh or dried thyme
Method
- Place a large pot over medium heat. Add all ingredients and bring to the boil.
- Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
- When the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are soft when pierced with a fork, transfer to a food processor and purée until smooth.
- Serve warm and top with a sprinkle of fresh black pepper to taste.
Weaning
6-7 months - Smooth and slightly thicker soup, no lumps.
7-8 months - Thicker puree with increased texture.
8-9 months - Minced and mashed with soft lumps.
9-12 months – Minced and finely chopped.
