5 Healthy Chicken Recipes For Family

Chicken dishes are a favourite in our home, whether in the form of roasts, casseroles, or hearty stews. Here are 5 simple yet delicious chicken recipes that are perfect for both babies and the whole family. These versatile recipes can be adapted for your baby’s weaning stage, or offered as a finger food, making them the ideal choice for a family meal.

Chicken Casserole - This Chicken Casserole requires minimal preparation, with just 5 minutes of setup before cooking. This recipe is a great way to add in some extra veggies, and works well as a school lunch in one of our Food Flasks. For weaning babies, you can simply blend to the desired consistency or chop the chicken into small, manageable pieces for finger food.

Chicken Cacciatore - Tender and flavourful, our Chicken Cacciatore offers a delicious meal that even the tiniest taste buds will enjoy. The tomato sauce blends effortlessly for a perfect dip paired with sliced cooked chicken for your weaning baby. Alternatively, you can blend the chicken and sauce together, then freeze individual portions using our Mummy Cooks Weaning Pots

Creamy Chicken and Mushroom - This Creamy Chicken and Mushroom recipe will be a hit for weaning babies and the whole family. It will be sure to get the little ones used to texture early on in their weaning journey and avoid any future aversion of mushrooms. Simply blend to a purée or shred to serve as finger food for baby. For older children and adults, I like to serve with either rice or pasta, both delicious options. You can find this recipe in my Baby & Family Recipe Book.

Chicken and Bean Chilli - With a 10 minute preparation time, my Slow Cooker Chicken and Bean Chilli is the perfect option if you are looking for a twist to the classic Chilli Con Carne.  This recipe makes 8 adult portions, so if you have leftovers, store them in our Toddler Portion Pots to freeze and reheat for easy healthy meals when you are on the go. Can be perfectly adapted for weaning babies by blending into a thicker purée.

Creamy Chicken and Vegetables Pies - My Creamy Chicken and Vegetable Pie recipe is a perfect healthy option for the entire family! You can serve with a side of steamed veggies or just enjoy it by itself. This dish offers plenty of nutrients all on its own and It’s also a great option for batch cooking as you can freeze the filling in our portion pots and complete with the pastry at a later time! This recipe can be adapted for a weaning baby 6 months+ by leaving out salt and adapting the texture of the chicken and vegetable filling to suit your baby's weaning stage.

Pro Tip: The key is not to over blitz the sauce if you are planning on feeding to your weaning tot in a few weeks time; consider their future stage and blend to a thicker consistency if required.
