Breakfast Recipe Ideas For Baby & Toddler

Breakfast Recipe Ideas For Baby & Toddler

From speaking with parents over the years I have found that breakfast ideas for a baby or toddler appear to be one of the major struggles for some families. Remember, you do not have to prepare separate breakfasts for different family members - you can all have the same breakfast, just serve it to suit your baby.

You may have a “safe” breakfast which you serve day after day as you know this is the one thing your child will eat, or your child refuses breakfast regularly. The key is to continue to offer breakfast every day and try to have a variety of breakfast ideas up your sleeve. After all, breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day!

Here are some great breakfast ideas to get you started!

Baby Muesli

This muesli makes a delicious and nutritious baby breakfast for your weaning tot. Soak for a few hours or overnight to give it a nice creamy texture.

Berry Overnight Oats

My berry and overnight oats recipe is quick and easy to put together the night before, and saves valuable time in the morning. Make it up in portion sizes for baby and family

Plum & Ginger Yoghurt

This naturally sweet plum and ginger yoghurt recipe are perfect for the whole family, including your weaning baby. It is great as a delicious healthy breakfast or snack at home or on the go, and makes a great topping for muesli or homemade banana pancakes

Cinnamon French Toast

This is a tasty twist on the classic and one the whole family will really enjoy. For your baby, slice the French toast into fingers and serve with mashed banana.

Boiled Egg and Avocado Toast

This boiled egg recipe is a quick and fuelling breakfast that your whole family will love. Just cut into slices to make a perfect baby led finger food for your weaning baby. Avocado is a great source of vitamins C, E, K & B6, great for a supercharged start to the day!

Vegetable Egg Muffins

Muffins are a great way of introducing fruit and vegetables to your little one and these are no exception. Not only are they a healthy and filling breakfast, but they are also a great lunch or snack option. For your weaning tot, cut into manageable pieces to serve.

Mix things up each day by offering a variety of cereals, breakfast muffins, eggs and toast. Move from adding puréed fruit to grated and the whole fruit as your baby gets used to more texture, or use homemade purees as a dip or a spread for babies who self feed.

By 6 months old your baby should be attempting 3 meals a day (check out my portion guide for portion sizes). The above breakfast ideas can be made in advance and stored in portion pots in your freezer for up to 3 months or in your fridge for up to 3 days.
