How to Use a Crinkle Cutter for BLW

If you haven't already heard, we recently launched our brand NEW product: Our Mummy Cooks Baby-Led Weaning Crinkle Cutter!

Slippery foods can be frustrating for baby when trying to self-feed. A  crinkle cutter allows you to increase surface texture of foods and therefore make it much easier for your baby to grip finger foods. The added grooves also provide increased sensory stimuli through increased texture. 

If you have a fussy eater, it also works really well to make simple foods much more fun. Who doesn't love crinkle cut homemade chips over regular ones? 

Here are some tips to help you safely and effectively use our Crinkle Cutter to make Baby-Led Weaning easier: 

Vegetables

Peel your vegetables before using our BLW Crinkle Cutter to cut your veggies into finger-sized pieces about 1-2cm thick. 

If not using a soft, ready-to-eat vegetable like avocado, steam your crinkle-cut veggies for 8-10 minutes or roast for 20-25 minutes, depending on the vegetable.

Offer to your baby as a finger food, let them self-feed and watch them enjoy the fun crinkle-cut shapes!

Here are some great vegetables that work perfectly with our BLW Crinkle Cutter:

1. Potato
2. Carrot
3. Butternut Squash
4. Beetroot
5. Courgette
6. Pepper
7. Avocado 
8. Cucumber



Fruits

Make sure your fruit is soft, ripe and ready to eat before peeling and using our BLW Crinkle Cutter to cut into finger-sized pieces about 1-2cm thick. 

Offer to your baby as a finger food, let them self-feed and watch them enjoy the fun crinkle-cut shapes!

It's possible to leave some of the skin on the fruit for extra grip to help baby.

8. Strawberry
