Green Lactation Smoothie

Green Lactation Smoothie

This healthy green lactation smoothie has all of the nutrients and vitamins to make sure you have plenty of energy and promote healthy lactation when breastfeeding! It's a quick and easy smoothie that's also rich in iron, folate, calcium and vitamin K; essential nutrients for a breastfeeding parent.

The combination of mango and spinach creates a super creamy texture that is refreshing at any time of the day, especially first thing in the morning! I love having smoothies like these for breakfast and use my handy food flask to keep it cold when I’m on the go.

Tip: For more variety, you can add ingredients such as kiwi fruits, bananas, or almond milk, as they are high in calcium and fibre and encourage healthy breast milk production! You can also swap out the greek yoghurt with coconut or lactose-free yoghurt to suit your dietary requirements.

Ingredients

50g (2 oz) of greek yoghurt
1 handful of spinach
1 handful of mangos, fresh or frozen, diced
1 cup (100ml) of orange juice
1 spoon of chia seeds

Method

  1. Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend for 1-2 minutes or until completely combined.
  2. If using fresh mango, add ice and blend to create a cold, creamier texture (optional)
  3. Serve your smoothie in a glass or one of our Mummy Cooks food flasks, sprinkle with more chia seeds for topping (optional) and enjoy!
