Healthy Halloween Treats

Sometimes it's great to step away from all the sweets and create healthy Halloween treats with your kids. We had so much fun creating these healthy alternative treats that you can serve up at your Halloween party. And there's no cooking involved!

We made Apple Monsters, Banana Ghosts, Mini Pumpkin and Jack-O'-Lantern Oranges. They are simple and healthier alternatives to give your little ones during Halloween.

Cook time: No cooking required
Makes: 1 adult portion

Apple Monsters

These were so much fun to make and the girls wanted to eat them before we had finished!

1 Apple cut into quarters
Almond slivers (about 10)
Mini Marshmallows
Green food dye
2 Toothpicks


  1. Cut apple into quarters, cut out the mouth and stick the almond silvers into the flesh.
  2. Make the eyes using the mini marshmallows and make a dot on it using the food dye.
  3. Place the "eyes" into the flesh using toothpicks.
  4. Eat them up fast as the apple will turn brown quickly.

Banana Ghost

This banana ghost is nice and simple and it might even nudge a reluctant fruit eater to give it a try.

3 Cheerios
Half a banana


  1. Halve a banana.
  2. Place two cheerios as eyes and one as the nose.

Mini Pumpkin

1 mandarin orange
Stick of celery


  1. Peel your orange and place a small stick of celery on top. It's as simple as that!

Jack-O’-Lantern Oranges

A fun twist on a carved pumpkin!

1 Orange
Assortment of fruits


  1. Carve out the orange flesh out of the orange.
  2. Cut out the eyes, nose and mouth like you would out of a real Jack-O-Lantern.
  3. Fill the mini orange lanterns with your kids' favourite assortment of fruits.

Weaning and Storage
6 months+ - Introduce as a finger food for baby to pick up and self feed.
